Stripwound Hoses – Design and Function
HYDRA® stripwound hoses are made from profiled strip that is coiled spirally so that it interlocks. Depending on the application situation, the stripwound hoses are made from interlocked or engaged profiles – from the highly flexible engaged profile through to the sturdy interlocked version.
Stripwound hoses are frequently used as flexible, heat and ageing-resistant elements in exhaust gas technology, as protective conduits for electric cables or light conductors and as extraction and delivery hoses.
Protective Hoses – Extremely Robust and Versatile
Protective hoses serve predominantly to protect electric cables and light conductors. Depending on the design and profile, they are very flexible, resistant to torsion and tension and resistant to transversal pressure. Protective hoses are made from a wide range of different materials. By choosing the appropriate material for the hose and possibly the seal and coating, a very wide range of demands on leak tightness, corrosion resistance and temperature resistance
can be met.
Extraction and Delivery Hoses – for Solid and Gaseous Substances
Extraction and delivery hoses are wound flexible metal tubes with a polygonal or round cross-section and interlocked or engaged profile. They are very flexible with a low weight and are easy to install. The temperature resistance depends on the hose and seal material.
Areas of use: conducting warm and cold air, vapours, exhaust gases and fumes. Transport of dust, wood and metal chips, pellets, cereals, etc. In ventilation technology, wood and metal processing, textile industry, chemical industry and in vehicle construction.
Flexible Arms – Goosenecks
A high load-bearing strength, flexible and at the same time flexurally rigid, sturdy and versatile are the characteristics of the "flexible arms" of stainless steel. Swan necks are used as microphone and lamp holders for opto-electronic appliances and as coolant hoses on machine tools, for example.
The potential applications are just as varied as the designs. The flexible arms are available painted, chrome plated or nickel plated, in nominal diameters from 6 to 18 mm, equipped with the corresponding fittings.
